Last Meeting
I want to thank Vice President John Rich for taking care of the last
meeting in my absence. Sorry to miss but I had to be out of town. Thanks too
for those who come and support our meetings. Without you we could not
function as a chapter and the work we do would come to a halt. The
group discussed participating in the Christmas parades again this year.
Alicia Dixon was given charge over that. We thank Alicia for that and we ask
that everyone pitch in and give her whatever assistance she needs.
The
Election Season Is Upon Us
It is one month from now that we go to the polls to elect the
next president and vice president of the United States. While much is in the
news, many political ads are being aired, the debates are in progress; let
us not be confused and loose track of the most important issues. Many people
vote on the basics of what is more beneficial to them financially. But we as
a people who believe in the importance of protecting life must cast our vote
on who would be the best person to push for the kind of protections that we
need if we expect to end abortions in this nation. The choice is very clear
on who would strengthen and who would tear away the protections already in
place. I have not seen the issues of pro-life and abortion discussed
thus far in this campaign season, but there is a sheet which I am sending
with this newsletter that shows the major candidates views and records on
this very important subject. Remember that the pro-abortion supporters are
hard at work in this election and we who are pro-life must be too. We still
have voter guides that show these candidates' views on abortion. Contact me
if you can use some to pass out to your friends.
While we seem to focus on the national elections, let's not overlook the
state election and our desire to elect a pro-life representative for our
district in the Tennessee House of Representatives. With the current
representative retiring at the close of this session, we have a prime opportunity
to elect a very strong pro-life candidate this year. Let me remind you that
the Tennessee Right to Life has endorsed Terri Lynn Weaver who will make us
an excellent representative for the 40th House District. Not only will she
promote our pro-life views, she will also work for family values in many
other areas. Again we have a clear choice in this race and let's vote for
life and encourage our family and friends to do the same. It is very
important that we get a pro-life majority legislators in the Tennessee
House. Many of our prime legislative bills have been blocked because of the
pro-abortion stand of the current House.
VOTE PRO-LIFE
Recent News
This past weekend we had a display booth at the Rendezvous On The Square
and we had the Life Chain. Both were very well received, many stopped by our
booth and picked up materials and we provide vote guides about the presidential
and vice presidential candidates.. At the Life Chain, we did not have as
many turn out as last year but we were able to make for a fairly long chain
of support for life. We saw mostly positive reactions with very few negative
responses from drivers by. As we look forward to future events, come out and
help, this is how we change the thinking of those who are pro abortion.
Next Meeting
The next chapter meeting will be October 14th. at Christ Church Fellowship
on Water Street. The time for our meetings is 6:30 p.m. Try to attend our
meetings and help us plan our projects. Your support is needed. We need to
be thinking of officers to serve our chapter for the next year. It has been
awhile since we elected officers and we should do this each year. For the
past two years we have been trying to get the chapter re-established and
moving forward again after it was dropped for some time. But now that is
pretty much going we need to select officers and I would like to do this by
November or December. We will discuss this at the next meeting. Do come and
help.
