Stop The Abortion Mandate
Our efforts over the past several months have had a great impact
on slowing down the progress of the health care reform bill. Lawmakers are
at odds on just how to go about moving forward. So don't stop what you are
doing, in fact increase your calls and emails to your elected legislators in
Washington DC especially Rep. Gordon. His NO Vote will help greatly in
prevent the passage of this bill which most like will include funding for
abortion.
Even though some in Congress and the media have said that this
bill is dead, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi continues to fight to pass the health
care bill. She has just announced a $300 billion 'fix' to the current bills
that she says will pass the House and Senate. She is working to get wording
that will pass the Senate with only 51 votes using a special procedure
called reconciliation. Normally it takes 60 votes in the Senate to pass a
bill. President Obama in his State of the Union address pledged to press
ahead with the health care reform and urge Congress to stand with him. Rest assured that the same people working
to continue the passage of the bill are also working to include federal
funding of abortion as a basic provision. So stay alert to any developments
and continue to let Rep. Gordon know that we do not want this bill to pass.
2010 Rally For Life
Several of us were able to attend this year's Rally in Nashville.
The hotel room was packed and we heard some very good and challenging
speakers. The main speaker was Walter Hoye, a minister from Oakland CA who
was arrested simply for holding a sign with a prolife message. As a black
man, Mr. Hoye spoke about how abortion is hurting his people, saying that
for every 100 live births there are 77 abortions within the black race. He
said that at that rate, the black race loosing ground on their population
numbers.
We also heard from another woman by the name of Judy who will be
working to help pass legislation this year on a new bill in Tennessee
called the Freedom from Coercion Act (FCA). Judy was forced against her will
as a teenager to undergo an abortion. So this bill will be a priority item
during the current session of the Tennessee Legislature.

the steps) and
also ask your other FB friends to become fans. If you don't have a FB
account, get one and help us spread the word. We currently have 44 fans,
